Congratulations to the hugely dedicated Aigas staff who all teach the importance of our connectedness with nature – that we are a part of it, not apart from it.

A jewel in the conservation crown – this is a most remarkable project, rooted in some of Scotland’s most spellbinding scenery. The range of wildlife – from beavers to eagles – is extraordinarily sensitive. I shall return!

The thing that bowled me over about Aigas wasn’t the daily ospreys or the peregrine on its eyrie or the glorious peanut-eating pine martens – my first ever. More than anything it was the passion for sharing nature that came through among all the young staff. It permeated the place. It was infectious. And it had its origins in the commitment shown by every member of the Lister-Kaye family.

Aigas is a place like no other. Time spent here is time with friends, rich in natural rewards, it’s a place of stimulation, inspiration, learning and cake. And the wildlife ain’t bad either!

Aigas is the perfect natural playground for a family. Where else do you have otters, beavers, pine martens and a wealth of birdlife all in one place? I felt complete freedom in letting my children roam and explore the natural wilderness there and make their own remarkable discoveries.

What an amazing few days these have been. What you are doing here – spreading awareness and love of nature is FANTASTIC! I love it.

I’ve just been watching pine martens in the Aigas hide. I don’t think we truly appreciate nature unless we witness it, feel it, smell it and touch it for ourselves, an awareness fixed by a skipped heartbeat, a drawn breath or a dropped jaw. Aigas has some of the most exciting fauna our isles have to offer and, in a stunning setting, gives people this intensity of experience thousands of times a year.

The future of wildlife is in our hands. At Aigas you can experience the joys and the excitement – and the wonder – of wild nature.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a surprise 90th Birthday afternoon tea at this beautiful house yesterday. We were warmly welcomed by Lady Lucy and shown into a lovely sitting room complete with comfy sofas and a roaring log fire which was a real treat on such a wet afternoon.A round table was set for tea in a window with views over the colourful garden. A glass of Champagne was poured when the Birthday girl was shown in then followed by the most delicious and beautifully presented afternoon tea anywhere.Aigas Field Centre runs courses on many subjects including painting, sketching, birds, day trips to interesting places and more and our 90 year old friend has been a regular visitor there for years calling it her home from home. Thank you Lady Lucy for giving us the insight yesterday as to why she loves it so much and if you can find time to add afternoon teas for the general public to your repertoire I am sure they would be a great success.

A warm welcome and wonderful wildlife encounters Aigas is the most welcoming and wonderful place. The staff are so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble. Guests are treated like friends and during your stay you will be treated to some extraordinary wildlife sightings including badgers, pine martens, wild cats, ospreys, red kites and even the possibility of a white tailed eagle overhead. The food is delicious and many of the guests are returning which is testament to what a wonderful welcome you will have here. read moreread less

a wonderful nature change of pace I participated in Aigas Wildlife Week which was a week full of nature at Aigas Field House and surrounding areas. I was on an extended visit to Scotland with a lot of history and urban visiting, so this mental break and green surrounding was appreciated. The Rangers work hard to cover all interests and the other guests can bring welcome knowledge and experience as well. Though the day trips were occasionally long, the pace was comfortable and time was allowed to enjoy the scenery. I am a birder, so this was a better fit than some bird-centric trips that are just 'tick the sighting and drive off'. I appreciated the fact there is no single supplement for a private cabin room and that dietary needs are well cared for. We had both gluten-free and vegetarian guests and it was often difficult to tell the special meal from the normal menu. It was all very tasty and plentiful. Breakfast is a cold buffet (with hot oatmeal)! Lunch typically a pack a bag buffet, and dinner a full served meal. Cabins are several bedrooms arranged around a common living room and kitchen. They are slightly spread out, but all easily walkable to the main house. They are well heated with individual radiators. The grounds are extensive with trails, gardens and viewing hides and easily manageable to visit in your down time. There are numerous planned weeks or long weekend programs as well as a bed and breakfast, or short let accommodations. My week at Aigas was a real treat for me and will be one of my Scotland highlights. read moreread less

Accommodation nestled in the woodland. Food homely and tasty. Guides...just brilliant and so knowledgeable. Ethos ...positive enthusiasm in involving all in nature and the love of the landscape. Just loved our stay and John, with his dry sense of humour & drive to make a difference, and Lucy, kind helpful and very organised.....I'd definitely recommend a stay to all interested in nature.

Walking and Wildlife week I am so please that I finally got to stay at Aigas Field Centre. I did the Walking and Wildlife week which was a wonderful experience. There is a lot of wildlife on the estate including badgers, deer, pine martens and Scottish wildcats which are part of a breeding programme. We saw birds and other wildlife on the walks too.Sir John, Lady Lucy and their daughter Hermione were great hosts and were extremely hospitable. Everything is very organised in terms of meal timings and excursions. They will cater for different diets. The staff do a fantastic job and are on top of everything. The rangers are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - it was a pleasure spending time with them. I would highly recommend staying at Aigas Field Centre - other guests seemed very happy with their experiences too. Many of them had been several times before. I hope to visit again in the future. read moreread less

I tried a Naturedays Open House recently and it's *exactly* what I've been trying to create out of the wooded spaces near where I live. But someone's already done it (Fin, as far as I can tell - based on my own experience and from what other home-edding parents have told me about them). Its pedagogy is something I've been trying to find for years (both in the Highlands and Central Belt) and I'm so happy that it exists here - if Fin ran this programme more regularly (essentially a forest school for older kids, not just nursery), we'd be scrambling to sign up.

Wonderful outdoor experience of the Scottish Highlands. Scenery was beautiful; mountains, farm land, multiple lochs, streams and waterfall. We toured various historic sites close to Aigas in addition to walks around the property. Saw some wildlife (3 types of deer), small dolphins, various shore birds, raptors and red squirrels. At Aigas went to their hides ( blinds) to view animals. Saw a pine marten and Scottish Wild Cat. They are part of a large conservation program working to restore the wild cat population in the wild. A badger was seen on another night in the hide. The Aigas Rangers lead the day trips and other activities. All are very well educated as they explain historical events and sites as well as telling us about the natural environment and various plants and animals. All are very nice and able to answer questions. Meals were all at Aigas for the week I stayed and were very good. read moreread less
