Whisky and Wildlife with Martyn Jamieson
Led by our experienced wildlife guide and whisky aficionado – Martyn Jamieson – this is a wildlife week with a strong whisky theme running through it. We will explore the hills and glens for their wonderful wildlife and will stop to enjoy distillery tours and even a little ‘sampling’ along the way! Presentations and an entertaining whisky tasting will round off your knowledge of the most iconic of Scottish exports – the water of life.
Highlights include:
Wildlife days out amongst the wild Highland landscapes in which Scottish whisky had its genesis. We’ll look for black throated divers, red and roe deer, golden and sea eagles, red kites, merlins and more.
- Several distillery visits and tours to learn about local malts and their creation.
- Evening tastings by the fire.
- A day on the Black Isle and an optional two hour boat ride in search of bottlenose dolphins, and perhaps a porpoise or minke whale.
- A final meal specially crafted by Lucy Lister-Kaye, in which every course will incorporate a different dram.
Extras
An exciting boat trip on the Moray Firth with hopes to see the bottlenose dolphins, other cetaceans, and sea birds close by for an additional cost of £30 per person (£45 for all 2027 programmes). Please note that due to the health and safety on the RIB boat, this isn’t suitable for those who are immobile, pregnant or have a serious back condition.
For those who do not wish to join the boat trip, there will be time to explore a quaint historic coastal village.
