The Aigas season begins in April and will finish in October. We are running more programmes than ever to cater for a wide variety of interests. This was my second holiday at Aigas and was just as good as the last. I did the Wild Revival programme last year which was full of enjoyable experiences. I have taken up some of the crafts we covered - last Christmas everyone got candles! Having seen how much other guests enjoyed the Wildlife programme I did that this year. The rangers took us all over the place looking for golden eagles, otters, dolphin........... The only animal I wanted to see and didn't was the white-tailed sea eagle; perhaps I will see them on my next visit. As usual the food and accommodation were wonderful. Lucy runs a very good kitchen and tries hard to cater for food allergies, likes and dislikes, etc.. The main thing I enjoy at Aigas is meeting the other guests who are, without exception, friendly and like-minded. I travel alone but never feel alone or left out. I can be alone when I want to and mix when I want to. Another great point for solo travellers is that there is no single supplement.

The house itself is a grand country estate, but also a well loved home where many generations have lived. The dinners in the Grand Hall were memorable. I am a picky eater.....if the menu was something I don't care for, the kitchen made me a delicious alternative. Aigas is especially unique because you are a guest at a grand family home. The hosts and staff ensure that every guest is treated like family. Let them know what you want to see/do, and they will make it happen. Highly recommended.

We recently spent 2 nights at Aigas, while driving through Scotland. We were not with a tour group. Aigas is truly a special, magical place. The love invested into Aigas is obvious. The house itself is a grand country estate, but also a well loved home where many generations have lived. The dinners in the Grand Hall were memorable. I am a picky eater.....if the menu was something I don't care for, the kitchen made me a delicious alternative. Aigas is especially unique because you are a guest at a grand family home. The hosts and staff ensure that every guest is treated like family. Let them know what you want to see/do, and they will make it happen. Highly recommended.
We have just returned from a fabulous week at Aigas, a unique base from which to see the wildlife of the Highlands. The Field Centre is the stately home of Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye, who are so welcoming and are the perfect hosts. They made us feel more like family guests than customers, which was immediately proved by the number of guests on our programme that have stayed there many times before. In fact, we seemed to be virtually the only first-timers, although it definitely won't be our last! The accommodation and meals are excellent, all under the personal supervision of Lady Lucy; and the wildlife programmes were extremely well organised. The programs themselves are led by both permanent and seasonal rangers, who all have a superb knowledge of the wildlife, history and geology of Scotland. Even the newer staff had all been trained extremely well, to have managed to learn so much knowledge to impart to us. It was also obvious that they all have genuine enthusiasm and take real personal pride in the work that they do for the centre. Aigas is set in a beautiful country setting, which contains its own loch and wildlife hides, containing a wide variety of Highland wildlife. It must be one of the few places where you could be lucky enough to see amongst other things, pine martens, otters and beavers. As well as learning so much, it was an extremely relaxing way to leave the rat-race for a week and do something much more full-filling instead. This is a very special place and a testament to the Lister-Kaye's for creating such a wonderful environment and also to all of the staff who do such a first-class job. We will definitely return again in the future to experience some of their other wildlife programmes.
