Absolutely fantastic week - saw everything on my wish list and more! Accommodation, food, rangers - all first class. I went on my own and met with a very nice mixed group of people and was very pleased to find that I was in a lovely cosy log cabin on my own. I was expecting to share but it was very nice to have some me time. All the trips out were very well planned and explained beforehand. The rangers were all very knowledgeable and answered our questions fully. The minibus was comfortable for our outings. Lord and Lady Lister Kaye and son were very welcoming and sat with us for pre dinner drinks. Food was exceptional on every occasion. I honestly cannot think of any negative comment - even the Scottish weather was kind to us! I would highly recommend this holiday for anyone interested in birds and wildlife and beautiful scenery.

The hosts at Aigas were Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister Kaye, he a naturalist and writer and she a gardener and superb cook. Both were gracious, welcoming and most informative. The rangers who drove the vehicles to take us to Scottish places of interest were very capable and kind. Scotland,in the Highlands is bewitching. Was not surprised to find the weather too cool and wet. Out of ten days three were sunny and the sky blue. Those three days were a surprise. A traveler comes prepared. The cabins we stayed in were fine. Each room had its private bathroom. All meals, teas and talks took place in the manor house. Three fine dogs were a bonus.

I stayed at the Aigas Field Centre for a week with a foray from the Audubon Naturalist Society. I'd read books by Sir John Lister-Kaye and had been in Scotland before, so I had high hopes, but this place topped them all. The young Rangers who took us out each day knew all the birds, the mammals, and the geology. Beauty was everywhere, on the grounds of the House of Aigas and in the lovely Highlands country. I loved the focus on the landscape and the environment; I loved the historical aspects. I loved seeing the Scottish wildcats, red grouse, and a golden eagle feeding a weasel to its chicks. And I loved Sir John reading us "bedtime stories." Walking around the loch at Aigas with Warwick was a treat. Seeing the site of The Lord of the Isles on the Isle of Islay was a treat. The food, under the direction of Lady Lucy, was wonderful, and the solicitude for guest comfort was genuine and on-going. I'm now hoping I can return some day!
