What can you say, that has not been said already. We spent a week in early June with my local RSPB group on the Summer birding week. But we got so, so much more. The 'Rangers' with their staggering range of knowledge of all types of Flora & Fauna, Birds, Insects, land management, ecology, climate, local architecture, and just about everything else you can think of.... Alistair MacLean anyone!! Sir John & Lady Lucy are the hosts with the most, with their dedicated team of professional & ever helpful housekeeping staff. The food was excellent, along with the accommodation, I just love the 'chalet in the woods' concept, with the Red Squirrels for company. Everything about the week was excellent. Yes! it's not cheap, but then as this reviewer has said in many previous reviews, 'you get what you pay for...' During our welcome chat we were told 'nothing at Aigas is too much trouble', never was a truer word spoken. Outstanding.

  • Perfect place for a peaceful holiday, living in a turfed roof log cabin and dining in the beautiful Aigas House. The habitats for the wide variety of flora and fauna were easy to access. Hides provided successful viewing of badger, pine martin, wild cat and beaver and birds galore. Lots of photographic opportunities. The meals were five star. The Rangers are all very knowledgeable, helpful and good drivers. Sir John and Lady Lucy's hospitality and organisation is wonderful. The Naturedays at Aigas have a great programme for helping children understand all about the diversity of wildlife. I can certainly recommend choosing an Aigas Wildlife experience for a holiday experience to remember. Helen Taylor

I concur with the praise from others for the standard week at Aigas. This is a special place. Every interaction with the staff at all levels was wonderful: * office staff -- Sheila and Marjorie * the rangers -- knowledgeable, cheerful, resourceful * the owners -- Sir John and Lady Lucy * even the kitchen staff (sorry I did not learn their names) We chose to extend our stay and do an extra day after the Highland House Party. They assigned ranger Jenny as our guide. She met with us a few times early in the week to understand what we were looking for. She came back with a proposal to go to the Cairngorms Mountain area. This was not on our itinerary for Highland House party, so we were pleased to see another part of Scotland. The 2 main attractions that she chose for us were: * Highland Folk Museum -- contains a 1700s village that was used for several scenes in Outlander -- really fascinating. This place also contains history and culture from other historic eras, but we did not take the time to see it all -- more for the next trip. * Cairngorms Mountain ski area -- this time of year covered with pink and purple heather in bloom. It is also a good spot for the Ring Ouzel -- a bird that we did not manage to see earlier in the trip. We found out that Jenny had spent the previous day scouting out the route -- checking timings, and toilet stops. That is emblematic for the level attention to detail to get when booking a trip at Aigas. Come and experience the joy.
