This trip to Aigas excelled our highest expectations. Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye know how to incorporate their lifetime commitment of conservation of both endangered species and careful planning of forestry and gardens. Combine their knowledge and experience with their team of Aigas Rangers and staff and you will be educated and fed well throughout the entire time. There was never a spare moment to become bored. Traipsing through the Scottish Highlands with history as its companion with great enthusiasm from the Rangers as fountains of knowledge is an extraordinary life experience.

My sister and I joined the Highland House Party on the last week of the 2011 programme. Although the weather was wet and windy, the warmth of the hospitality was superb. The 7 young rangers were outstanding - kind, caring, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the history, flora and fauna of the area. Our days were full and varied, and the food - all locally sourced - was excellent. When we left we felt that we had become part of the Lister-Kaye family! We can't wait to return. The ceilidh on the final evening just rubber-stamped' a truly memorable week. I am now re-reading Sir John's books, and have already used some of Lady Lucy's recipes!

We recently spent 2 nights at Aigas, while driving through Scotland. We were not with a tour group. Aigas is truly a special, magical place. The love invested into Aigas is obvious. The house itself is a grand country estate, but also a well loved home where many generations have lived. The dinners in the Grand Hall were memorable. I am a picky eater.....if the menu was something I don't care for, the kitchen made me a delicious alternative. Aigas is especially unique because you are a guest at a grand family home. The hosts and staff ensure that every guest is treated like family. Let them know what you want to see/do, and they will make it happen. Highly recommended.
