Aigas and the Local Area
Formerly known as Aigas Retreat, we have been working hard to improve and upgrade this low-key week. We have listened to our returning guests and developed a locally based, low emissions programme. We have capped total daily mileage to 40 miles, with most days averaging 20 miles.
Trips out are shorter and you will have more free time to spend at Aigas enjoying the wildlife hides and nature trails on your own. With a general focus on wildlife and ecology, there is plenty to see in our beautiful glen.
Examples of activities include:
- Moth traps
- Evening hide visit
- A visit to a local glen to look for golden eagles, dipper, red deer and more
- A visit to the coast to spot seabirds, ducks and coastal flora
- A visit to Aigas’ Wildcat Conservation Project
- A botany and invertebrates walk
- A visit to a local waterfall
- A visit to a local community woodland
- An evening talk by one of the Aigas rangers
This programme is recommended for guests who have been before, or for those who are looking for having more time on their own.
