The Aigas season begins in April and will finish in October. We are running more programmes than ever to cater for a wide variety of interests. We just spent the most delightful week at the Aigas Field Centre. Our time there was both relaxing and jammed packed. Sir John and Lady Lucy did in indeed make us feel like guests in their home. The guides were informative with a lively interest in everything we questioned them on. The food was great. The cabins were warm and comfortable. Our daily outings were productive even when it rained. Tea at 4:00 PM was most civilized and a very pleasant way to wined down after a day on the go.

This was my second visit and I certainly hope to come again. Accommodation and catering are excellent and the centre is in a splendid setting within its own grounds, which encompass woodland, moorland and a small loch, the home of beavers. The daily field trips were well planned to cover a variety of Highland habitats and to encounter many species - golden eagles, red deer, otters, dolphins and pine martens perhaps the most memorable among the great many seen. The rangers who lead the trips are first-rate in their knowledge and enthusiasm and their consideration for the groups in their care. Both my stays were for one week: the first (in 2010), "Walking and Wildlife", requiring more physical stamina than the second, "Aigas Wildlife", whicxh involved walking but of a gentler nature. For both, good waterproofs and footwear were essential, binoculars too, although these can be hired. Apart from wildlife weeks, there are others focussed on different topics. For example, there was a "Creative writing" group during my second visit, and the interaction between the groups over meals is stimulating.

I am so please that I finally got to stay at Aigas Field Centre. I did the Walking and Wildlife week which was a wonderful experience. There is a lot of wildlife on the estate including badgers, deer, pine martens and Scottish wildcats which are part of a breeding programme. We saw birds and other wildlife on the walks too.Sir John, Lady Lucy and their daughter Hermione were great hosts and were extremely hospitable. Everything is very organised in terms of meal timings and excursions. They will cater for different diets. The staff do a fantastic job and are on top of everything.The rangers are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic - it was a pleasure spending time with them. I would highly recommend staying at Aigas Field Centre - other guests seemed very happy with their experiences too. Many of them had been several times before. I hope to visit again in the future.
