Programmes By Date - Aigas Field Centre

Fantastic week. This was our 4th visit to Aigas. It was a superb Landscape photography with Laurie Campbell, his tuition was great and the rest of the group was very supportive. Aigas is memorable and magic and the welcome is brilliant from the hosts Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye. Food just wonderful. Warwick Lister-Kaye and the Rangers are so knowledge and helpful. Wildlife is unbelievable. A very memorable week.

The hosts at Aigas were Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister Kaye, he a naturalist and writer and she a gardener and superb cook. Both were gracious, welcoming and most informative. The rangers who drove the vehicles to take us to Scottish places of interest were very capable and kind. Scotland,in the Highlands is bewitching. Was not surprised to find the weather too cool and wet. Out of ten days three were sunny and the sky blue. Those three days were a surprise. A traveler comes prepared. The cabins we stayed in were fine. Each room had its private bathroom. All meals, teas and talks took place in the manor house. Three fine dogs were a bonus.

The hosts at Aigas were Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister Kaye, he a naturalist and writer and she a gardener and superb cook. Both were gracious, welcoming and most informative. The rangers who drove the vehicles to take us to Scottish places of interest were very capable and kind. Scotland,in the Highlands is bewitching. Was not surprised to find the weather too cool and wet. Out of ten days three were sunny and the sky blue. Those three days were a surprise. A traveler comes prepared. On the contrary, the rangers were so engaging and so patient in helping us to use binoculars, how to identify different birds and really help to build our confidence and enthusiasm. We were given really helpful tips fo the best time and places to spot the beavers and had some very successful hide visits, also seeing the pine martins and wild cats, as well as a host of red squirrels and a young greater spotted woodpecker who was beautiful The food was exception and whilst we were initially hesitant about communal meals, these quickly became the highlight of our time there and Lady Lucy and Sir John were the perfect hosts.

This was the first time we had really done any kind of wildlife watching since we were children, and we were very apprehensive about standing out and coming across as idiots. On the contrary, the rangers were so engaging and so patient in helping us to use binoculars, how to identify different birds and really help to build our confidence and enthusiasm.
