Programmes by Theme

Most of our holidays cover a wide range of topics but some have a central theme or cover remote locations while others are specialist - such as our photography weeks. This page allows you to select a holiday that covers your specific interests. Alternatively, you can view holidays by date.

Aigas Wildlife

Our APine Marten on the Aigas Lawnigas Wildlife weeks are our most popular and with 18 weeks running this programme, you'll almost certainly find a date that suits you. Its a little bit of everything; understanding and enjoying the whole show - from birds, to mammals, to landscapes to history.

Birds

Black Grouse LekAll of our holidays will contain an element of seeing bird life. However, we run three specialist weeks for those with a particular interest in our flying fauna.

Botany

TwinflowerThe garden at Aigas is something we're proud of and which all our guests enjoy. The holidays below go a step further and explore wildflowers and domestic gardens across the Highlands, where our local experts will help you discover rare and delicate beauties such as the Twinflower (Linnaea borealis.)

Children's Holidays

Nature's ChildrenMost of our holidays are for adults. However for a couple of weeks a year, during the summer holidays, we turn the place over to families. Spend seriously quality time with your children or grandchildren on a Nature's Child week.

Creative Writing

Jay Griffiths Photo: Edward ParkerWith one of Scotland's leading nature writers as a director, it is only natural that we'd want to share this genre with you. Join John Lister-Kaye, Jay Griffiths and others on one of our creative writing courses.

History / Archaeology

Skara BraeThe history and archaeology of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland are as fascinating as the natural habitat and, of course, the three go hand-in-hand. Our rangers will take you to sites of interest from thousands of years ago up to recent history and explain their relevance.

Islands

The Inner HebridesThe islands of Scotland are as iconic and fascinating as the Highlands as well as wild, remote and beautiful. We cover the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Orkney Isles, Skye and Shetland.

Mammals

Red Deer at DawnWith badgers, pine martens, beavers, red squirrels, red and roe deer breeding on the property, no Aigas guest is going to miss out on mammals. However, for those interested in making a week of deeply understanding mammals, we've developed the following holidays.

Photography

Photography at AigasWe are extremely pleased to be able to offer Laurie Campbell's courses. There are few people in the world who know as much about photographing Scottish wildlife. From 2011 we are also offering a beginners digital photography course for those keen to get the best from their point-and-click or DSLR.

Walking

Walking the HighlandsFill your lungs with Highland air, stretch your legs and join us as we walk through some the Highlands' most spectacular landscapes. Designed for any adult of reasonable fitness.
