The Aigas season begins in April and will finish in October. We are running more programmes than ever to cater for a wide variety of interests. If your holiday with us is dependant on dates, please search the calendar below to find out what is on during your preferred dates. I spent a week at Aigas, taking a wonderful photography course. I was completely overwhelmed by the Lister-Kaye's incredible hospitality (Lady Lister-Kaye's cooking is legendary), the glorious location, and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the Aigas rangers. I was solo on this trip and somewhat nervous I'd be the only single. Indeed, I was not and I had the time of my life. If you are looking for a unique educational and learning adventure, look no further.

Road Scholar had a very small and wonderful group of 13 who had a wonderful learning experience in the Aigas Field Centre in Beauly, Scotland...it was a magnificent trip. We saw a great deal of the Highlands, and learned about birds, insects, trees, the rivers, history, the large animals,lochs, and I got to see a pine martin feeding at night in the Centre. It is a magical place with knowledgeable, intelligent, well-spoken young people who know their stuff. If they don't know, they will find out, and get back to you. As our group was so small, they could give us time for our many questions! Lady Lucy produced incredible meals for the Great Hall, and conversations were always interesting. Our cabin was comfy, clean, and welcoming, with a great hot shower. They will even do your laundry! This is a marvelous place for those who love Nature, and enjoy walking (ours were not especially taxing) and want to learn about and see some of the Highlands of Scotland! They have accommodations for all sorts of groups or families. Their standards are very high!

Though the day trips were occasionally long, the pace was comfortable and time was allowed to enjoy the scenery. I am a birder, so this was a better fit than some bird-centric trips that are just 'tick the sighting and drive off'. I appreciated the fact there is no single supplement for a private cabin room and that dietary needs are well cared for. We had both gluten-free and vegetarian guests and it was often difficult to tell the special meal from the normal menu. It was all very tasty and plentiful. Breakfast is a cold buffet (with hot oatmeal)! Lunch typically a pack a bag buffet, and dinner a full served meal. Cabins are several bedrooms arranged around a common living room and kitchen. They are slightly spread out, but all easily walkable to the main house. They are well heated with individual radiators. The grounds are extensive with trails, gardens and viewing hides and easily manageable to visit in your down time. There are numerous planned weeks or long weekend programs as well as a bed and breakfast, or short let accommodations. My week at Aigas was a real treat for me and will be one of my Scotland highlights.
