Programmes By Date - Aigas Field Centre

Scenery was beautiful; mountains, farm land, multiple lochs, streams and waterfall. We toured various historic sites close to Aigas in addition to walks around the property. Saw some wildlife (3 types of deer), small dolphins, various shore birds, raptors and red squirrels. At Aigas went to their hides ( blinds) to view animals. Saw a pine marten and Scottish Wild Cat. They are part of a large conservation program working to restore the wild cat population in the wild. A badger was seen on another night in the hide. The Aigas Rangers lead the day trips and other activities. All are very well educated as they explain historical events and sites as well as telling us about the natural environment and various plants and animals. All are very nice and able to answer questions. Meals were all at Aigas for the week I stayed and were very good.

When you buy into a product such as a learning course or programme you imagine it is going to be what you want, but not necessarily everything you want. My week at Aigas so dramatically exceeded my expectations that I am still dazzled by it. I have, quite simply never experienced anything like it. First of all it is a family home and you are welcomed like long lost cousins. Secondly everyone who works there seems to love it - remarkable enough - but they are also real experts. Thirdly the place is very beautiful in a lovely Highland glen. Fourthly it has a dazzling array of wildlife on site - beavers, otters, pine martens, ospreys, red kites, red squirrels, golden eagles......on and on the list goes. And finally, as if to cap it all, we learned so much and we had such fun. What more can I say?

My week at Aigas so dramatically exceeded my expectations that I am still dazzled by it. I have, quite simply never experienced anything like it. First of all it is a family home and you are welcomed like long lost cousins. Secondly everyone who works there seems to love it - remarkable enough - but they are also real experts. Thirdly the place is very beautiful in a lovely Highland glen. We absolutely loved the log cabins which were warm and cosy and totally in keeping with the ethos of Aigas - lots of space, everything we needed, a kitchen area with hospitality tray and a really comfortable living area for everyone to meet if they wanted, all set in the wonderful grounds of Aigas House. We went there for the Highland House Party week and had changeable weather but that didn't affect our enjoyment in any way. Every day was a different expereincve and we could wax lyrical for pages and pages - the food was wonderful and every consideration was made for special diets and likes and dislikes. The wildlife and scenery were really amazing and the whole experience was quite unlike anything we had experienced before. We cannot wait to return in 2014. If you have the chance to attend one of the open days - jump at it, you won't be disappointed
