Programmes By Date - Aigas Field Centre

We spent seven days in June on the Aigas Wildlife Holiday. A very full week which gave a taste of all that the Highlands have to offer including East and West Coast, mountains, lochs, rivers forests and glens. We were able to see dolphins, otters, beavers, pine martens, red deer, eagles, ospreys and many other birds and mammals. Our accommodation was very comfortable and we received a warm welcome from all the Aigas staff. Meals were superb and plentiful. All the rangers were very knowledgeable in their field and made the trip not only enjoyable but very informative. The Aigas Estate itself was a truly magical place to visit. The downside was that the week was over far too quickly.

This was our third visit to Aigas and again we were not disappointed. We were on the 'Summer Birds' programme and saw over 100 species of birds during the week along with some mammals and reptiles. Once again the rangers who led us gave us interesting information and were excellent of spotting birds. Our most memorable viewing was of a female golden eagle and two chicks in the nest. Sir John and Lady Lister-Kaye looked after us well. The food was superb in all respects. If you have even a vague interest in wildlife this holiday will delight.

This was our third visit to Aigas and again we were not disappointed. We were on the 'Summer Birds' programme and saw over 100 species of birds during the week along with some mammals and reptiles. Once again the rangers who led us gave us interesting information and were excellent of spotting birds. Our most memorable viewing was of a female golden eagle and two chicks in the nest. I don’t think we truly appreciate nature unless we witness it, feel it, smell it and touch it for ourselves, an awareness fixed by a skipped heartbeat, a drawn breath or a dropped jaw. Aigas has some of the most exciting fauna our isles have to offer and, in a stunning setting, gives people this intensity of experience thousands of times a year.
