Programmes By Date - Aigas Field Centre

by Callum Rodger (age 11) This was my first holiday away without my family, and I came here last week for 6 days with my school. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and Lady Lucy was really nice to us all (and she makes GREAT chocolate cupcakes). We did many activities here, walking, boat trips, castles, visiting the hides and I saw a beaver, dolphins, and golden eagles at the falconry at Dunrobbin Castle. I was in Fraser Lodge and it was really nice and comfortable. I LOVED my visit here and I'd like to come back with my parents some day. Thank you to Lady Lucy and the Rangers (Elspeth, Duncan, Dave, Brenna, Alicia, Scott and Sarah) for looking after me so well. Callum I'd also like to add my thanks to Lady Lucy as Callum has come home eating soup "with bits", flapjacks and drinking milky coffee - something I've never managed in 11 years. In all seriousness though, I'd recommend this trip for any schoolchild who has the opportunity to come here. Callum had a wonderful experience that he'll never forget, and his first comment as he came off the bus was "I want to go back, I have a brochure" !!!!

Alistair MacLean anyone!! Sir John & Lady Lucy are the hosts with the most, with their dedicated team of professional & ever helpful housekeeping staff. The food was excellent, along with the accommodation, I just love the 'chalet in the woods' concept, with the Red Squirrels for company. Everything about the week was excellent. Yes! it's not cheap, but then as this reviewer has said in many previous reviews, 'you get what you pay for...' During our welcome chat we were told 'nothing at Aigas is too much trouble', never was a truer word spoken. Outstanding.

What can you say, that has not been said already. We spent a week in early June with my local RSPB group on the Summer birding week. But we got so, so much more. The 'Rangers' with their staggering range of knowledge of all types of Flora & Fauna, Birds, Insects, land management, ecology, climate, local architecture, and just about everything else you can think of.... Alistair MacLean anyone!! Sir John & Lady Lucy are the hosts with the most, with their dedicated team of professional & ever helpful housekeeping staff. The food was excellent, along with the accommodation, I just love the 'chalet in the woods' concept, with the Red Squirrels for company. Everything about the week was excellent. We visitited lots of places where they tried to find the wildlife we wanted to see. They varied the itineranry to suit us. The moth trap was really interesting. The evening hide which was lit for photography was stunning and we saw badger and pine marten on each of the three nights we used the hide. We only saw one crested tit and no crossbills which was a shame. The accomodation was great and we could have self catered if we wanted to - but the area for eating inside the house was socially distanced so we didn't need to. From a Covid perspective we felt very safe and everyone was following guidelines etc.
