Aigas Field Centre is the home of Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye who warmly welcome guests for either bespoke holidays or pre-set week group holidays covering various themes such as birdwatching, mammals, mushrooms, hiking etc.. Located in the beautiful highlands of Scotland, Aigas Field Center has a series of very comfortable cabins as well as individual units and rooms in the main house as well. Delicious meals, comprised of locally sourced foods, are overseen by Cordon Bleu trained Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye. The Field Centre itself is dedicated to restorative ecology. This was our first Road Scholar trip and we have already put a deposit down on our next trip. I particularly liked the small group model, even though this "small group" consisted of 32 people - a nice mix of former professions and interests. The Aigas Field Center and Rangers were welcoming. Everyone was personable and well informed. The food was spectacular. There was a good balance of activities. The Road Scholar model was indeed "value added" beyond what I could have planned myself.

I tried a Naturedays Open House recently and it's *exactly* what I've been trying to create out of the wooded spaces near where I live. But someone's already done it (Fin, as far as I can tell - based on my own experience and from what other home-edding parents have told me about them). Its pedagogy is something I've been trying to find for years (both in the Highlands and Central Belt) and I'm so happy that it exists here - if Fin ran this programme more regularly (essentially a forest school for older kids, not just nursery), we'd be scrambling to sign up.
